John C Mather säger: Mr John C Mather is here to answer you questions.
chili säger: what does the nobel price mean to you?
John C Mather säger: Number one, your work is beeing recognized and we are very happy to see that. Personaly it gets me an opportunity to talk about my work and what Nasa is planning for the future.
Kristoffer Ö säger: Why do you think it is important to study Big Bang and space? What can we learn about it today?
John C Mather säger: Well, we can learn a great deal about the the first moments of the universe and it helps us learn about physics and about our history. The radition can only be measured in space because the earth's space absorbes the radiation.
säger: Hello - and "Grattis". What is the biggest mystery in the universe? Håkan in Uppsala
John C Mather säger: There are many mysteries. What is the nature of space and time? The dark matter and dark energy. That's in the distant universe. And closer, how is it that we are aware of the universe.
ö säger: Do you have some other goals beside getting the nobel price?
John C Mather säger: Yes, my primary goal now is to se the James webb telescope is successfully lounged. It's the new telescope that will follow the Hubble telescope.
Edwin säger: What was the universe like before the Big Bang?
John C Mather säger: We don't know. The Big Bang rather scrambles the evidence but it's possible there was something before and the scientists job is to find out.
säger: Do you belive in god?
John C Mather säger: I think science is a way to find out about the physical universe and the more we know about science the more mysterious the universe is.
säger: Hellu, did you study a lot when you were younger? about 16 years old?
John C Mather säger: Yes I did. I studied all the time and it's was exiting. It's so much to learn when you are 16 years old.
Kackie säger: John, Have you ever heard about sweden before you got the Nobel price
John C Mather säger: Oh yes. I have visited Malmö for one hour, when we vent to visit the observatory in Ven.
säger: Is there a figure for how many stars there are out there? Lasse
John C Mather säger: Well, in the visable universe there are 100 billion stars in each galaxy and there are about 100 billion galaxys.
Tjindar säger: What are your thoughts on global warming?
John C Mather säger: Well, measurements say that it is happening and we still need to understand all of the causes, cause it's pretty sure man is one of the causes.
Dani säger: Hello Mr Mather. I have one question, I'm sure you don't have the answer but anyway. Is it possible that our "world" could be just a tiny little molecule in another world?
John C Mather säger: It is possible. It's not something we know how to answer yet, but scientists are workning on if the are other universes.
Willy Bob säger: Who has meant the most for the science of physics ever?
John C Mather säger: Oh godness, well in modern times I would think of Einstein because he made so many things in one time. He started five new fields of physics in one year. I think I would also call Newton.
Johan säger: Hey John.
I have a question for you: What do you think about the odds of living on mars at the year 2020??
John C Mather säger: I don't think we could get there that soon, it's hard enough to get to the moon that soon.
Bob Lindeman säger: hallo ! What do you think about the swedish austronaut Christer Fuglesang ? How important is it for Sweden to make that trip ?
John C Mather säger: Well I'm hopefull Sweden is as proud as they say. Scienece and exploration has gone together since the beginning of the spaceprograme.
Moderator säger: Thank you John C Mather, now we have time for one last question.
Christoffer säger: Hallo. I was just wondering, how bright are you? If you dont mind me asking. Are you a member of Mensa? or any other "smart people" organisation.
John C Mather säger: No, I feel very happy however to be a Nobel-price-winner.
Moderator säger: Good bye and thank you for chatting.
John C Mather säger: Thank you for your interest in science and thank you for interesting questions!
