Swedish superstar Tim ”Avicii” Bergling was found dead in Oman last Friday at the age of 28.
Saturday local police soon came to the conclusion that there was ”no criminal suspicion” in the death of the world renowned DJ.
Now Avicii’s family has opened up about the death of their beloved son and brother.
Avicii’s parents Anki Lidén and Klas Bergling state in an open letter, via Avicii’s publicist Ebba Lindqvist, that the world famous DJ and musician could’t take it any more:
”Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress” the family says in their open letter.
”When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.” the open letter continues and ends with:
”The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you”.
Retired from touring in 2016
Last weekend Avicii’s family immediately flew to Oman to take his body home and afterwards released a statement thanking Avicii’s fans for their love and support.
”We are so grateful for everyone who loved Tim’s music and has beautiful memories of his songs” they said Monday in the statement.
Avicii retired from touring in 2016 at the age of 26. He had been fighting health problems, including pancreatitis and appendicitis and he also had to have his gallbladder removed in surgery.
Avicii was open with his health concerns in the documentary ”Avicii: True stories”. The film, released in October 2017, detailed the Swedish superstars life on tour and ends with his last concert, in Ibiza in August 2016. Tim ends the show by bringing all his close friends up on stage and thanking the audience:
”Thank you so much for tonight. I couldn’t have asked for a better last show. Thank you so much for tonight, you were awesome!”
